It has been quite clear already this summer that FC Barcelona are struggling with signing players. However, it appears that the actual issue could potentially be slightly more complex than that. Beyond just signing any player, Barcelona remains primarily concerned with registering them.

Previously, it was reported that the lack of registration guarantees was exactly what led to Nico Williams not joining this summer. Moreover, it seems likely that those same issues are now hindering Barcelona from making any other moves for a new left-winger this summer.

However, it seems that the longer this goes on, the more costly it becomes for Barcelona. That is because targets will gradually start to slip away, and the latest update from a reputable journalist confirms that Barça could soon lose another key summer target as well.

Luis Diaz informs Liverpool about his desire

According to Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool forward Luis Diaz has informed the English club that he wants to leave for Bayern Munich this summer. Despite being linked to both Barcelona and the Bundesliga side this summer, his preference now seems to be clear. With the transfer already approved by Bayern coach Vincent Kompany, Diaz is now pushing for the move as well.

Even though the German giants had a bid rejected previously, there seems to be no major issue in terms of personal conditions between Bayern and the Colombian winger. The 28-year-old Premier League forward is yet to reach a full agreement with them, but that will likely not be a major concern.

Barcelona would be unable to register him

Barcelona, on the other hand, remain in a position where they would not be able to register Diaz even if he joined. Moreover, it seems that Diaz considers Bayern to be his priority destination, and other clubs would be considered if Bayern and Liverpool are unable to reach an agreement.

In other words, Barça might need to do something significant in order to better compete for the winger if they want him. While the journalist does clarify that Barcelona is still interested in the player, their current financial situation continues to limit them.
