Among the areas of their team that FC Barcelona are looking to reinforce for the next season, the center-back position is one of the most prominent. The departure of Iñigo Martínez last summer left a gap in the back line, and the club is now determined to address it with a long-term solution.

As a result, Barcelona are keen to add a commanding presence in defence and, according to Fichajes, one name gaining strong traction within the sporting department is Inter Milan centre-back Yann Bisseck.

The German’s physical presence, experience at the highest European level, and ability to operate in different defensive systems make him an especially appealing option for the Catalans.

Crucially, the push for Bisseck is being driven by Hansi Flick. The German coach has reportedly identified the 25-year-old as a priority target, believing he can help address the team’s recurring defensive issues.

Flick is said to be concerned about the lack of authority in duels and vulnerability in set-piece situations, areas where the Inter defender has consistently impressed.

Standing over 1.95 metres tall, Bisseck offers aerial dominance and strength in one-on-one battles. At the same time, his distribution from the back has improved significantly, a trait valued highly in Flick’s plans for a more controlled style of play.

Inter do not consider Bisseck untouchable, but they recognise his development and market value. The Italian side is expected to demand between €40–45 million, a fee Barcelona view as high but not entirely out of reach, depending on other financial adjustments.

For now, there is no formal offer on the table. Deco and his team continue to assess the feasibility of a move, while the coaching staff remains supportive. It remains to be seen whether the Catalans will make a decisive push to secure his services in the coming months.
