There are a lot of things expected to happen at FC Barcelona in the coming weeks and months. While most occurrences are often unpredictable, there are some that the club can plan ahead of time. For now, most upcoming matters for Barcelona are the urgent ones.

For instance, the whole issue with the preseason tour to Japan continues to be an unpredictable ordeal. While a conclusion finally seems to have arrived on that matter, Barcelona do plan on still figuring out the whole mess with the Spotify Camp Nou and the Joan Gamper Trophy match.

With a return to the club’s iconic stadium now being delayed, it all depends on when the club ends up getting the permit to make their long-awaited return. However, in a recent interview with Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona president Joan Laporta spoke about various topics and even talked about the return to the Camp
Nou.

Yet, an even more interesting statement of his came when he was asked if Lionel Messi would potentially be there for the reopening of the stadium. To this, Laporta responded positively and even spoke of a potential tribute:

“Back then, throughout the final stage of Leo’s time at Barça, we always said it: The most beautiful thing would be to inaugurate the new Spotify Camp Nou with a tribute to Leo Messi. I’m sure the idea has reached his family — in fact, it’s already been discussed. It’s something we’d be absolutely delighted about, but of course, it also depends on Leo and his family. I hope it happens. It would be really beautiful.”

The Barcelona president spoke about a lot of things

Many fans would look forward to any such tribute, and Lionel Messi would thoroughly be deserving of it. After all, he is undeniably the greatest legend of the club’s and much of La Blaugrana’s success came during a period that had the Argentinian icon as a leading figure.

However, Laporta also addressed other topics during the interview and one of them revolved around the Nico Williams operation. Beyond that, other details were also provided by the Barcelona president as he spoke about many different things.
