FC Barcelona and Real Madrid share a special rivalry that not many other clubs can boast. For decades, these Spanish giants have been the primary adversaries for each other. Last season, however, the spoils of victory all belonged to the Catalan giants.

From La Liga to the Copa del Rey and even the Spanish Super Cup, Barcelona defeated Los Blancos in every major domestic competition. While many fans and players may remember those painful defeats, Gavi is making sure that no one forgets them anytime soon.

The 20-year-old Barcelona midfielder recently spoke to Diario AS about the club’s eternal rivals and did not hesitate to say that Real Madrid have every reason to be concerned.

Of course they’re worried. Four out of four — that had never happened in history. It’s logical they’re concerned. Last season we were spectacular, and they didn’t win anything.

However, the 20-year-old Barcelona star made sure to point out that Real Madrid had recruited some top players this summer, but still stated that the Barça squad just has to focus on themselves:

This year, they’ve signed great players, that’s true, but we’ll see how the season goes. They have a strong team, but we just have to focus on being ourselves.

For now, the only guaranteed encounter next season between the two teams will be twice in La Liga. Beyond that, there is always a real possibility that the two El Clásico rivals could end up meeting in various other competitions as well.
