There are some pending concerns for FC Barcelona that the club is still trying to solve. With player registrations being the priority, La Blaugrana are fully focused on that issue. However, it would appear that the Catalan club has another idea in mind as well.
While it would be impractical to consider that the club could end up bringing in another first-team signing, there is an alternative idea in Deco’s mind, apparently. As confirmed by SPORT, the Barça director is looking to bring in an under-23 defender before the end of the transfer window.
Barcelona looking for a very specific profile
The reason behind this, as per the report, is that bringing in such a player would allow Barça to register him with the reserve team but count on him to perform for the first team as well. Moreover, with Inigo Martinez having left this summer, it could be the kind of reinforcement that Hansi Flick would welcome.
Currently, the report says that the club is monitoring various names and targets. However, the player in question would reportedly need to be affordable for Barça, and the operation would need Flick’s approval as well, moving forward.
Still, this is not an operation that will be settled or pursued immediately. Instead, the club’s primary objective is to register their summer signings first, and only then, possibly after the second matchday of La Liga, would the Catalan club pursue such a signing.
