Paris Saint-Germain have officially completed the signing of Ferran Torres from FC Barcelona, bringing an end to speculation over the Spain forward’s future at Camp Nou. The 26-year-old moves to the French capital for a fee in the region of €50m and has signed a five-year contract until 2031, taking the No. 9 shirt at the Champions League holders.
Barcelona were open to selling Torres amid uncertainty over his future. Any renewal of his contract would have required a payment of around €8m to Manchester City under a clause connected to his January 2022 move from the Premier League club, when Barcelona paid an initial €55m plus add-ons. The financial implications of offering Torres an increased contract meant sporting director Deco was reluctant to pursue a new deal, according to sources familiar with the situation.
Torres arrives in Paris after a productive 2025-26 campaign, featuring 49 times across all competitions for Barcelona and scoring 21 goals as the Blaugranes claimed back-to-back league titles. Across 207 appearances for Barcelona, he scored 65 goals and provided 23 assists. He also scored the winning goal in Spain’s World Cup final victory over Argentina last month at MetLife Stadium.
Torres said he was very happy to begin a new adventure at an ambitious club in Paris and thanked president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Luis Campos and coach Luis Enrique for the opportunity to join the team. He added that he hopes to help PSG win as many trophies as possible.
The departure leaves Barcelona without either of their recent centre-forward options, with Robert Lewandowski having already left for the Chicago Fire and Torres now following him out of the club. Julian Alvarez remains Barcelona’s primary target to fill the void at No. 9, though Atletico Madrid’s resistance to sanctioning his exit has led to growing pessimism around a deal.
The sale allows Barcelona to avoid the cost of an increased contract for Torres. With three weeks left in the transfer window, the pressure now falls on Deco and the sporting department to find a striker before the market closes.
