Borussia Dortmund are attempting to sign Hector Fort from FC Barcelona, with the player reportedly keen on a move to the German club. Mundo Deportivo reports that Dortmund have sent representatives to Barcelona to work on completing a deal.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the final issues concern the total fee and the financial structure of the operation. Marca has separately reported that a fee of around €20 million is under discussion, while negotiations between the clubs continue.
Barcelona are reportedly seeking between €15 million and €20 million for Fort. Another option under discussion is a package worth a little over €10 million that would include a significant percentage of a future sale and a buy-back option. The report also notes that an amount of around €50 million has been mentioned in Germany.
Dortmund’s last reported offer was €10 million plus 50% of a future sale price, which was below Barcelona’s reported demand of €20 million. The gap between a higher upfront fee and a lower structured package remains central to the talks.
Fort has been training separately from the first-team group while awaiting a resolution over his future and is not in Hansi Flick’s plans for the season. He has previously rejected Roma, Fenerbahce and Real Sociedad, while Everton, Fulham and Inter have also been credited with interest. Dortmund has reportedly been Fort’s preferred destination.
The proposed structures under discussion would allow Barcelona to lower the upfront transfer fee while retaining a percentage of Fort’s future rights or including a buy-back option. Those terms remain part of the negotiations between the clubs.
Dortmund had previously considered including Fort in negotiations involving Karim Adeyemi, but a transfer for the right-back was not integrated into the Adeyemi deal. The current discussions concern a possible move for Fort from Barcelona to Dortmund.
With Dortmund representatives reportedly in Barcelona, negotiations are ongoing. The clubs still need to agree on the total fee and the structure of any transfer before a deal can be completed.
