Despite having been one of the best teams in Europe and having won all the big trophies in Spain, FC Barcelona are still intent on strengthening their team for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
In fact, the Catalans have already made their first signing of the 2025 summer transfer window. They had paid the goalkeeper’s €25 million release clause and had also officially announced his signing a couple of days ago.
Today, the goalie signed his new contract at the Blaugrana club’s offices, in a ceremony which was attended by his close family, his agents, and some club officials, including the President Joan Laporta.
Joan Garcia excited to play for Barcelona
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Spaniard also shared his feelings for the first time as a Barcelona player after this contract signing ceremony.
The goalkeeper was very happy with this move, and expressed his intention to continue growing:
“I’m very happy, I was really looking forward to this day and it has finally arrived… My goal is to keep growing as a goalkeeper and to win a lot, to achieve beautiful things with the team — that’s why I came.”
The Spanish shot-stopper also expressed his excitement about playing with the Blaugrana team:
“It’s a very exciting project, with a great team and very young players whom I already know. I’m really looking forward to starting and being with them.”

Highlighting his strengths
Garcia highlighted some of his most notable strengths:
“I consider myself a brave goalkeeper, quick with reflexes, and someone who tries to contribute in aerial play.”
The goalkeeper went on to express his excitement about playing at the new Spotify Camp Nou:
“It’s very special to see the model of the Spotify Camp Nou, it’s impressive. I’m eager to debut in it, and I’m sure we’ll achieve many victories at the stadium.”
Now officially a part of the Barcelona team for the next season, Joan Garcia is undoubtedly a very exciting addition to the team. Hopefully, he will show why the club made the bet on him this upcoming season by defending the Blaugrana goal.
