FC Barcelona’s midfield picture has grown increasingly crowded this summer, with Hansi Flick able to call on Pedri, Bernal, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi and the newly signed Rodri in the positions where Marc Casadó operates. According to Marca, Casadó was told toward the end of last season that he would face significant difficulties getting playing time in the current campaign.
The latest development has placed Turkey among Casadó’s possible destinations. According to Marca, Beşiktaş and another unnamed Turkish club are sounding out a move for the midfielder. Beşiktaş had already shown interest in June.
Marca reports that Barcelona wants around €25 million for Casadó, a figure interested clubs have found difficult to reach. The report adds that Barcelona could have received more than €30 million for him a year earlier, but that his value has fallen after his limited playing time last season.
There are other interested parties. Two Saudi Arabian clubs, including Al Hilal, are also pursuing the player, while Sunderland and Nottingham Forest have emerged in recent days as possible suitors.
Jorge Mendes has spent the summer seeking a destination for Casadó, but no club has made a final offer. Barcelona’s asking price remains a central issue as the midfielder’s future is considered.
