Official: Barcelona nominated for Men’s Club of the Year award

FC Barcelona concluded their previous season with a historic domestic treble. Thanks to that, the club’s reputation was restored and they are now seen as a serious sporting institution once again. Moreover, that success also brings in other benefits.

As officially confirmed by the Ballon d’Or account, the Catalan club has been nominated for the 2025 edition of the Men’s Club of the Year award. Given to the most outstanding club of any given year, Barça will have to face off against some major competitors.

Some tough competition for Barcelona

The most obvious competition for the club will be Paris Saint-Germain, as they French side led by Luis Enrique has won a domestic treble in France and also won the UEFA Champions League last season as well.

Another competitor could be Chelsea, with the English side having won the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup by beating PSG in the final. As for the remaining two nominees, those are English side Liverpool and Brazilian outfit Botafogo.

This is also set to be the fifth edition of the award, with Chelsea, Manchester City, and Real Madrid having won the awards previously. As for Barcelona, the club has nominees for other awards as well. Two Barça players will compete for the Kopa Trophy, and Hansi Flick has been nominated for the Men’s Team Coach of the Year award.
