FC Barcelona will try to be as meticulous as possible this summer when it comes to spending. After all, the club is hardly in an ideal position when it comes to their finances. At the same time, however, Barcelona cannot afford to linger around forever.
Beyond just internal matters that the club is trying to resolve, there is also the whole issue of needing to sign a new left-winger this summer. To do that, however, Barcelona already seem to have realised that they will need a lot of things to go their way.
However, it is already quite clear that the signing of Liverpool forward Luis Diaz is hardly going to be straightforward. After all, the Colombian winger remains their primary target this summer but La Blaugrana are not willing to overextend themselves to sign him.
Favourable conditions will be needed for Rashford
The alternative option, however, is Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford. Having been linked to Barcelona since quite some time now, the 27-year-old English winger is not exactly Barça’s first priority but he seems to be a much more feasible operation for the club to address.
Still, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona would only pursue his signing if they are able to acquire him under very favourable conditions. To do that, Barça would need Rashford and his camp to make his signing much easier.
For starters, La Blaugrana would need the player to agree to a significant salary reduction if he truly wishes to join them. Moreover, the English winger would need to make it clear to Manchester United that it is Barcelona that he wants to join.
This would subsequently create a beneficial scenario for Barça and ease their negotiations as well. For now, the English side reportedly wants around €40 million for Rashford this summer, but it seems likely that Barcelona will try to sway them a little more if possible.
Rashford continues to want a move to Barcelona
For the 27-year-old Premier League forward, however, the top priority remains Barcelona. Even though his camp is aware of the Catalan club’s focus on Luis Diaz, they also understand that it is an operation that is complicated at the moment and that could push the case for Rashford in front of Barcelona even more so.
Unfortunately, the club reportedly does have reservations regarding Rashford as well. Despite being an English player in a Manchester United side that wants to rebuild, it is a worrying sign that his current club does not want him. However, Rashford’s camp has reportedly promised Deco and Barcelona that the player will turn his situation around.
