It is no secret that Robert Lewandowski remains one of the very best centre-forwards in world football. The Polish ace continues to deliver big goals in big moments, and he also provides leadership. For Barcelona, he is truly a special kind of player.

Unfortunately, he cannot continue to play at the highest level forever. Already 36 years old, he will soon be turning 37 this month. However, even though the veteran is no longer in his prime, the club is not rushing to push any buttons or bring in his replacement just yet.

Barcelona is assessing the situation for now

According to SPORT, Barça is taking things gradually and not rushing into a decision. While potential successors to Lewandowski have been linked to the Catalan club, Barça is not looking to dive into any kind of operation just yet.

There are a few reasons for this, and the financial aspect is clearly one of the most important factors. For now, it is essential that the Catalan club continues to work with caution, although returning to the 1:1 rule could potentially alter their planning.

However, even beyond the financial reasoning, the sporting aspect has to be considered as well. After all, there is a level of belief within Barça that Lewandowski’s level has not dropped off just yet, and the possibility of extending his deal by another year to 2027 is not completely off the table just yet.

Ferran Torres continues to shine

Moreover, the great consistency that Ferran Torres continues to showcase is another major factor. Even recently, during the game against RCD Mallorca, he ended up finding the back of the net in the absence of the Polish forward.

With Torres constantly trying to make that starting position his, it is clear that even Lewandowski’s absence does not hinder Barça. However, there are options like Dani Olmo and Marcus Rashford as well, both of whom can operate as the focal point in Barça’s attack if needed.
