FC Barcelona appointed Hansi Flick as manager at the beginning of the 2024/25 season. In his first year, he had the club playing an attractive brand of football, winning the domestic treble and reaching the Champions League semi-finals.

One thing Flick ensured was to place a lot of trust in La Masia. He promoted both Marc Casado and Marc Bernal to address the team’s pivot issues, and the former established himself as one of the most important players for the manager in the first half of the season.

However, the emergence of Frenkie de Jong after his injury recovery has sidelined the 22-year-old Spaniard. He is now firmly a rotational player and fills in for both the Dutchman and Pedri when either is absent. Despite this, he recently shifted his agency and is now represented by Jorge Mendes, suggesting he might want to stay at the Catalan club.

According to Fichajes, Serie A champions Napoli are interested in signing the Spaniard. They are looking to take advantage of his lack of game time and tempt him with a more prominent role at the club.

Despite Flick continuing to trust Casado, Barcelona are willing to either sell or loan out the 22-year-old midfielder. They have set an asking price of €30 million for the former Barca Atletic captain, which is a very decent fee for his talent.

January could prove to be a turning point for Casado. Pedri is currently injured, and it is the Spaniard who is replacing him. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the 22-year-old, and let’s hope he continues in a Blaugrana shirt for a long time.
