There is simply no denying the fact that FC Barcelona produces some of the world’s most exciting talents. After all, that is one of the Catalan club’s core strengths. Fortunately, these youngsters also tend to help out the Barcelona first team when needed.
Barcelona continues to trust in their youth

Not every profile is available at all times to the prestigious first team, and sometimes those gaps have to be filled by youth players. However, that is not their only function, as certain youngsters even end up making themselves first team regulars and becoming crucial players for the side.
Still, most of the time these players remain committed to their obligations towards their respective youth teams. Unfortunately for Barcelona Atletic, a disastrous campaign saw them get relegated from the Primera RFEF to the Segunda RFEF.
Oscar Gistau returns with renewed motivation
However, even that disaster could be a blessing in disguise for some aspiring youngsters who will likely aim to establish themselves more strongly. One such player could be Oscar Gistau, a 17-year-old striker from La Masia with a lot of expectations and hopes.
As highlighted by SPORT, he alternated a lot last season between Barcelona Atletic and the Juvenil A side. This season, however, he is expected to fully devote himself to Juliano Belletti’s team and commit his services to Barça Atletic.
Last season, injuries definitely made his progression more difficult and hampered his development. Despite looking impressive initially for both the Juvenil A side and Barcelona Atletic, he ultimately failed to show off his full potential due to said injuries.
Now, however, he has returned and is fully recovered. Moreover, he is expected to play a key role in the reserve team this season and has the motivation to make a name for himself. Despite still just being 17 years old, Belletti is expected to give him the opportunities he needs to grow.
A modern centre-forward
As for the profile he offers, Oscar Gistau is a modern-day centre-forward and relies a lot on his physicality and mobility. A player who provides a lot of workrate both offensively and defensively, he is a positive addition for any coach he plays under.
Previously, he impressed in the Barcelona youth categories and was reportedly always a standout performer. However, with fellow youth striker Victor Barbera’s future still up in the air, Gistau is seen as the striker that the Barcelona youth coaches are putting their trust behind and has even caught Hansi Flick’s eye before.
