FC Barcelona will likely look to discard some players before the end of the summer transfer window. For the Catalan giants, this is important in terms of clearing out space within the squad. As of right now, several unnecessary players continue to remain at Barcelona.
Fortunately, work is being done to clear out unnecessary players and create some extra margin in the salary space. One such player who seems to be closing in on an exit is Oriol Romeu, a 33-year-old Spanish veteran who does not seem to be in Hansi Flick’s plans.
Barcelona midfielder prioritises Girona move

In terms of his destination, however, fellow Catalan side Girona seems to be the priority for the Barcelona player. According to SPORT, he is already negotiating the termination of his contract with Barça so that he can return to Girona this summer.
However, the terms might not be too favourable for La Blaugrana. The report claims that they might possibly still have to pay at least half of his wages for next season as well due to the remaining year on his current contract.
Having been left behind by the club as they departed for Asia as well, it seems clear enough that Barcelona do not want to continue with Romeu. Interestingly, however, Girona might not be the only club looking to sign Romeu for next season.
