It is clear enough to see that FC Barcelona have a lot of players that are performing at a high level this season. Even when the team seems to be physically struggling, they still manage to pull off great results. Fortunately for Barcelona, that also helps their players like Raphinha and Pedri at an individual level beyond just collective success.

The recent win in the Copa del Rey, for instance, is a massive statement win for Barcelona. Now the champions of the competition this season, they managed to do that by beating Real Madrid in sensational fashion. Moving forward, that win could have major positive implications as well.

For starters, it means that the dream of a potential treble still remains alive for Barça. Hansi Flick’s side has now won the Copa del Rey, but they still need to see through the UEFA Champions League and La Liga as well. However, none of this would have been possible without the amazing campaigns that certain players are having either.

One such player is undoubtedly Pedri, who also ended up scoring the first goal for Barcelona in this recent Copa del Rey final. Throughout the season, his performances have undeniably been in a league of their own, and that was justifiably warranted him some shouts of being a Ballon d’Or contender.

Even the player himself, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano, recently spoke about the Ballon d’Or and his potential aspirations for it. For the Barcelona star, Rodri winning the award’s most recent edition made it clear to him that midfielders have a chance as well:

“Since Rodri won the Ballon d’Or, it has become clear that a player who controls the midfield and dictates the tempo of the game can win this award.”

However, while the player dreams of winning the award someday, his first priority is to help the team succeed:

“It has always been my dream to win the Ballon d’Or, but right now my focus is on team trophies.”

Now, with a big win already secured and the Copa del Rey wrapped up, Barcelona can focus on the other competitions. Fortunately, players like Pedri are already focused on the next match and want to be as prepared for it as well.
