The upcoming weeks could prove to be crucial for FC Barcelona as they look to improve their current squad. Already a competitive side, Hansi Flick’s team simply needs a few more additions to look much more complete. However, restrictions and financial limitations continue to hinder Barcelona.
The search for a new left-winger

In the absence of registration guarantees, even top targets like Nico Williams have managed to slip away. Moreover, he has already renewed his contract with Athletic Club and Barcelona are now forced to consider other options.
On that same front, the name of Liverpool forward Luis Diaz has emerged as a notable target. Similarly, Marcus Rashford’s falling out with Manchester United could now pave the way for possible contact with Barcelona as well.
Dumfries could be a real option for Barcelona
However, there are other positions to possibly consider as well for Barça. One such operation could possibly involve the acquisition of a new right-back, and a certain Inter Milan star has been highlighted as a player that the club would like to sign.
Denzel Dumfries, aged 29, is a Dutch right-back who currently plays for Inter Milan but would reportedly be open to a move for Barcelona. Moreover, according to Fichajes, the operation concerning him could be wrapped up in a matter of days by Barça if they decide to sign him.
Now represented by Jorge Mendes, the Portuguese super agent could play an important role in helping find an agreement between the player and Barcelona. Moreover, with an affordable €25 million release clause, it is an operation that would not completely be beyond Barça’s financial means.
Time is definitely ticking
As for the €35 million-rated defender, as per the valuation provided by Transfermarkt, he offers a profile that Hansi Flick reportedly wants. Combining strength with attacking drive and experience, Dumfries is a package that Barcelona could consider going in for.
However, considering the fact that his €25 million release clause is only valid until the 15th of July, it would make sense for Barcelona to act swiftly. At the same time, however, the priority is to promptly return to the 1:1 rule and sort out important registrations first such as that of new signing Joan Garcia.
