It is almost always a priority for FC Barcelona to pay special attention towards their most promising youngsters. For decades, the Catalan club has been built and has progressed on the foundations that nurture their own homegrown gems. In time, these talents have ended up saving Barcelona and have taken the club to new heights.
However, it is hardly an easy task to accommodate every single aspiring young talent. Some players like Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi are simply anomalies, who end up reaching the very top of the footballing world irrespective of their age or experience, a statement that is backed by the fact that Yamal went on and won the Kopa Trophy as well just recently.
Every player can not be a Lamine Yamal or Pau Cubarsi, however. Unfortunately, the journey for others is at times a lot more indirect and difficult, but it is one that is theirs to take nonetheless. Such has been the case for young left-back Alex Valle, who is currently playing on loan at Scottish club Celtic.
As highlighted by SPORT, however, the young Barcelona fullback has been quite solid over in Scotland. While many initially doubted his move to Celtic, it would now appear that it was a calculated decision and one that is paying off spectacularly for the player.
Under the leadership of Brendan Rodgers, Valle has proven that he is capable of being a reliable offensive and defensive asset simultaneously. Such is the level of his quality and versatility, as he has already registered multiple assists while also being a tough opponent to beat in one-on-one situations.
By joining Celtic, Valle ensured that he would be getting more playing time than he would at Barcelona against top-level teams both in the domestic competitions and in the UEFA Champions League. This consistency has now also allowed the Barcelona loanee to find his own best version.
With several consecutive starts under his belt already, despite the fact that he joined Celtic late once they had already begun their official season, Valle’s incorporation has been smooth over in Scotland. This applies to both his adaptation on the field as well as the club’s swiftness in getting him accommodated in his new surroundings.
As a result of his performances, Barcelona will likely be keeping a close eye on him. Even before he moved to Celtic, however, Hansi Flick had reportedly already asked Deco to retain the player for this season but the young 20-year-old fullback had other plans.
