There now seems to be a growing urgency at FC Barcelona to start working on their summer targets soon. After all, with their rivals reinforcing their own squads, it is time for the Catalan giants to do so as well. However, it seems that Barcelona would first like to sort out some other things.

Player renewals, for instance, is something that the club is definitely working on. Raphinha has already agreed on the details over his new contract, and Joan Laporta has previously even provided updates on player renewals and confirmed that progress was being made.

Now, however, it seems that the club is looking to add some extra depth to their management team as well to better equip them to deal with various challenges. With Deco currently being the Director of Football, it seems that he is looking to add a reliable name to his team to work alongside him.

Barcelona are now in talks with Tim Steidten

As revealed by the ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona are now in talks with Tim Steidten to potentially add him to their management team. Formerly a Director at Premier League club West Ham and German side Bayer Leverkusen, he is a man with a lot of experience under his belt.

According to the information provided by Romano, Barcelona have now joined the likes of clubs from Saudi Arabia, England, and Germany in their pursuit of Steidten. Having a rather notable catalogue of successful transfers throughout his career as a scouting head and Director, it is no wonder that he is in such high demand.

Former West Ham United and Bayer Leverkusen Director Tim Steidten is now in talks with Barcelona.

He previously terminated his contract with West Ham in January of this year and has been in talks over a new project since then. With Barcelona now in the picture, however, a big player in the market has decided to test the waters and check if Steidten would be open to joining them.

The German has some unique methods

Particularly known for his meticulous and sophisticated methods, the German expert is someone who relies a lot on a data-led approach. By making use of various kinds of data and analytical reports, he is able to identify the right profiles to pursue and sign.

For Barcelona, that could be a very effective method to put into application. With limited resources but extremely high expectations, the Catalan giants could use a man like Tim Steidten to help them make the right decisions in the transfer window.

Responsible for signing players like Florian Wirtz

Previously, he has been jointly responsible for the transfers of players such as Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Edmond Tapsoba alongside several other promising players. In fact, during his time as Director of Football at Werder Bremen, he even managed to sign Kevin De Bruyne on loan at a time when he had nowhere near the level of respect and admiration that he holds today at Manchester City.

If he does end up joining Barcelona, however, his exact role is yet to be identified. After all, Deco is already the Sporting Director of the Catalan club, but Romano has pointed out that both Deco and Steidten have a great relationship.
