Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen

Barcelona receive a major injury boost ahead Valencia clash tomorrow

Coming off a highly encouraging win against Real Madrid on Thursday, FC Barcelona are now looking forward to their La Liga tie against Valencia. This match is expected to be somewhat easier than the one at Bernabeu, as the Catalans will have one of their in-form defenders back in the lineup.

The victory in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final against Real Madrid was important not only because winning the King’s Cup is an essential target for the club or because the match was against their bitter rivals Real Madrid.

The victory tasted even sweeter because FC Barcelona were missing a number of their key players and were coming off after two defeats in Europa League and La Liga. Pedri, Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembele, and Christensen were all out with injuries in that critical match.

While the former three are expected to take some more time to return to the starting fitness levels, Mundo Deportivo reports that Andreas Christensen has already recovered. The Dane is a part of the squad for the game against Valencia, which still omits Pedri, Lewandowski, and Dembele, as well as Gavi, who is suspended for the match.

Christensen was suffering discomfort in his left ankle, which kept him from being a part of the starting XI against Real Madrid. However, he has fully recovered now and is expected to make an appearance in the match against Valencia on Sunday, either from the start or as a substitute.

Christensen, along with his colleagues in the backline, Kounde, Araujo, and Balde, has done a tremendous job at the back for Xavi’s team, as they have let only eight goals be scored against them in 23 matches in Liga. Thus, Christensen’s return will undoubtedly boost the team as they look to regain their hand on the Liga and Copa Del Rey trophies this season.
