FC Barcelona once again came out on top against Real Madrid on Sunday, lifting the Spanish Super Cup and returning from Saudi Arabia with another trophy added to their collection.
As is often the case in El Clasico fixtures, emotions ran high throughout the final at the Alinma Stadium in Jeddah, with several heated moments breaking out between the two rivals. One such incident did not attract much attention during the match itself, but later came to light through television footage.
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, cameras from Movistar+ captured a tense confrontation between Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid defender Dean Huijsen away from the ball. The sequence, later shown on the programme El Día Después, showed Huijsen deliberately blocking Yamal’s path and shoving him on more than one occasion.
Visibly irritated, Yamal confronted the defender, saying, “Will you let me pass? Are you stupid? Are you pushing me?” As the Madrid player continued to obstruct him and applied another strong push, the Barcelona youngster responded with a warning, repeating, “Don’t get it wrong, don’t get it wrong…”
With the situation threatening to escalate, Eduardo Camavinga intervened quickly, stepping between the two players to calm things down and restore order on the pitch.
The episode underlined the intensity of the Spanish Super Cup final and the fierce rivalry between the two clubs. Adding an ironic twist to the clash is the fact that Lamine Yamal and Dean Huijsen are teammates with the Spanish national team and are likely to share the same dressing room again in Luis de la Fuente’s next squad.
Despite that shared bond, the pressure and emotion of an El Clasico once again proved capable of sparking moments of real tension.
