The decision to appoint Hansi Flick as the head coach of FC Barcelona after Xavi Hernandez’s departure is proving to be the best one with every passing day.
The German coach has not only won the La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Spanish Super Cup titles in his first season in charge of the team, but has also made the Blaugranes one of the most entertaining and fearsome sides in Europe.
Hansi Flick extends his contract till 2027
Having enjoyed so much success in his first season, it is quite natural that the Catalans were looking to extend his contract further. In fact, this contract renewal was finalised last night, as the club officially announced Hansi Flick’s commitment to the club till 2027.
Following this contract extension, Hansi Flick also talked to the club media, and as Mundo Deportivo has reported, addressed subjects like the season his team has had, its ability to grow further, and his reasons for renewal.
Talking about the 2024-25 season, the German tactician said:
“We suffered a bit in November and December, but we stayed calm and played at an incredible level. In the second half of the season, we deserved everything we achieved.”

Praise for the Barcelona team
The Blaugrana coach was clear that he would like to stay at this club in the future:
“I’m happy to work with this team. I like staying in Barcelona and working at this amazing club, with these players. We have a great relationship and now we’re starting from scratch. We have to work hard, like we did before. We have to improve, and we will.”
Hansi Flick also highlighted the team’s ability to grow and stay focused:
“I feel that they have a spirit to grow and to learn, and that’s what’s important to me. They want to be better every day, in every match. We work hard during the week and on the weekends, in the games, we can see if things are going well or if we need to go in another direction. That’s what I feel: that everyone is going in the same direction, that we want to get better step by step.”
The German coach also thanked the fans for their continued support:
“The connection is very close and it’s great to feel it that way. They’ve given us a lot of support, because many times we’ve had to come from behind and you feel that the people are there, the players feel it on the pitch too.
I want the same from this season for the next. I can tell them that we will try everything, to be better and of course to win titles. This is Barcelona and it’s necessary to win titles.”
Hansi Flick had signed a two-year contract in May 2024, and this renewal means he has extended his stay at Barcelona to three years. Hopefully, he will continue to enjoy success in the coming years just as he did this season, and will stay with the Blaugrana team for a long time.
