FC Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has made it a habit of breaking all kinds of records, for the right and wrong reasons. His teams are always in the mix when it comes to goals, both scoring and conceding.

Last weekend, the German manager named a very interesting, rotated XI against Alavés, and the team still got the job done with a 3–1 win, thanks to a brace from Dani Olmo and an exceptional goal from Lamine Yamal.

According to Mundo Deportivo, that starting XI was the third youngest ever for a Barcelona team at the Spotify Camp Nou. The average age of the XI was just 24.28 years, which is quite incredible.

It included three teenagers: Lamine, Pau Cubarsi, and Marc Bernal, all 18. In addition, there were five players under 25 in the form of Eric Garcia, Marc Casado, Alejandro Balde, Gerard Martin, and Joan Garcia.

Dani Olmo and Raphinha, at 27 and 28, were slightly older, and the XI was rounded off by a 37-year-old Robert Lewandowski. If not for the Pole, the average age might have come down even more.

Although there is not much to read into this stat, it shows that Flick is not afraid to throw in youngsters despite the occasion. He has placed immense trust in La Masia, and it bodes well for the club’s present and future.
