FC Barcelona are always looking to sign talented youngsters who stand out. Over the years, beyond just trusting La Masia talents, players from outside the club have been brought in as well. After all, even Pedri was signed from Las Palmas by Barcelona back in 2020.

Now, a fresh recommendation has arrived from Norway. Marius Broholm, a 20-year-old winger, recently made headlines after a promising campaign in the Eliteserien and a €6 million move to Ligue 1 side Lille.

Jordi Gonzalez, assistant coach at Rosenborg and a veteran of Nordic football with over two decades of experience, believes Broholm would be a perfect fit at Barcelona. “If I were Barça, I’d sign Marius Broholm,” he told SPORT.

Gonzalez recalls discovering Broholm while the player was still on the fringes of Rosenborg’s first team:

He was with the youth team and hardly playing. He had been out on loan and wasn’t getting many minutes. But when I saw him, I realized he was different. The way he moved, how he handled the ball… When you see a player run, you just know if he’s a footballer or not. And he is. We worked closely with him because we saw something special.

Beyond just his footballing quality, Gonzalez believes the €7 million-rated Norwegian prodigy has the mental strength to thrive at a highly demanding club like Barcelona:

He’s highly self-confident, which allows him to adapt quickly to a dressing room. Players here in Norway are generally very noble, but in other clubs things can be more demanding. He’s got the ability to adapt to any situation.

Despite the praise, a move to Barcelona seems unlikely in the near future. Having just joined Lille, the French club is expected to retain the winger as they invest in his development.

Still, Broholm remains one to watch. His profile, which emphasizes technical finesse over physicality, aligns with the traits Barcelona typically value. While the timing may not be ideal, the Catalans could revisit his name in the future as they continue their talent-scouting mission.
