The last time FC Barcelona played a UEFA Champions League game at the Spotify Camp Nou, they suffered a disappointing 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the group stage under Xavi Hernández, which saw them slip into the Europa League.

It has been a long wait for Barcelona fans to see Champions League football, or any football, at their home ground. The renovation of the stadium has dragged on longer than expected, but finally, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

It was confirmed a couple of days ago that Barcelona would return to their home for the La Liga encounter against Athletic Bilbao this Saturday.

Now, according to the club’s official statement, UEFA has also given the green light for the club to host Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League on 10 December at the freshly renovated stadium.

Barcelona and president Joan Laporta share a good relationship with UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin, which helped the club gain permission to play their first two games in this Champions League league phase away from home.

UEFA officials will be present at the stadium for Barcelona’s game against Alavés on 29 November to verify all the required details ahead of the Champions League fixture. If everything goes well, the green light will stand.

It would be an excellent feeling for Barcelona’s players and fans alike to hear the Champions League anthem at the Spotify Camp Nou again. It has been a long time since 2022, and the hope is that the club emerges victorious against Eintracht Frankfurt and sets the stage for what is to come.
