After winning the Spanish Super Cup in January, FC Barcelona are set to play for another important piece of silverware tomorrow on Saturday, as they face Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final.
The Catalan squad for this game has already travelled to Seville for this match, where they will spend the night and then take on the Merengues without the hassle of travelling.
Winning this trophy is undoubtedly one of the objectives for Hansi Flick’s team, as it would allow them to remain in contention for the treble.
However, as MARCA has reported, even if they end up winning tomorrow, the Blaugranes will not be celebrating too much.
This is not because this trophy is not being seen as important by Barcelona, but more so because the schedule ahead does not allow them any time to be distracted.
Right after this game on April 26th, the Catalans are set to play the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final against Inter Milan, and they will have to start training for this game right from Monday.
Although there will be a logical celebration for this possible victory, there will not be any big celebrations by the team. The Blaugranes will spend the night on the match in Seville, and return to Barcelona only on Sunday, only some hours before they start training for the Inter Milan match.
Thus, the celebrations for this win will be somewhat like they were for the Spanish Super Cup triumph, after which the Catalans celebrated in the King Abdullah Sports City but not in Spain, as they had the Copa del Rey Round of 16 tie against Real Betis scheduled only a few days later.
While the team itself will not indulge in revelry following a win, the same cannot be said for the fans, who are still expected to take to the streets if Barcelona are able to beat their arch-rivals in such a high-stakes encounter.
