FC Barcelona are looking to strengthen some weak areas of their team this summer, and have already done a lot of work in this regard. However, the Blaugranes also need to make some sales to reduce their wage bill and to get enough space to register their new signings for the next season.

In such a context, several players have been linked with a move away from the Catalan club. Two such players are Fermin Lopez and Eric Garcia.

The former is enjoying a lot of interest in the market with his two good seasons with the Barcelona team, while the latter has only one year left on his contract, making him an interesting market opportunity.

However, according to SPORT, neither of these two players is likely to leave this summer, mainly because Hansi Flick wishes to have them in his squad for the next season.

Although neither of them was an undisputed starter, the German coach was still very happy with their performances last season. Both of them fulfilled the trainer’s expectations when they were called upon, and the defender particularly stood out with his versatility.

Owing to his good performances, Fermin is generating a lot of demand in the market, with several European clubs and even some Saudi sides interested in him. However, he wants to stay at Barcelona, and understands that he has Flick’s backing, as the German has already asked the club not to sell him.

Only one year left on Garcia’s contract

On the other hand, although Garcia is yet to finalize his renewal, his desire is to stay with the Blaugrana team, and Flick is also clear that he must remain a part of his squad. The German is particularly impressed with the defender’s dedication on and off the pitch.

In fact, the coach has already stopped him from leaving twice already, first in the last summer transfer window and then in the winter window as the Spaniard looked to join Girona on both these occasions.

Thus, despite being linked with moves away from Barcelona, Hansi Flick is unlikely to allow either Fermin Lopez or Eric Garcia to leave this summer.
