FC Barcelona made a difficult decision in the summer to part ways with Ansu Fati. Once touted as the next superstar to come through La Masia, his career seemed to be going nowhere.

Fati joined Ligue 1 side AS Monaco on loan with an option to buy. Barcelona retained some control over the player’s future by negotiating a buy-back clause.

Barcelona then proceeded to sign Marcus Rashford to replace him. Meanwhile, Fati is balling out in Ligue 1, starting his stint like a man on a mission.

Such a form will undoubtedly spark interest in the 23-year-old. Now, as per Fichajes, Premier League clubs such as Sunderland and Aston Villa are showing strong interest in signing Fati.

Of course, the first choice to buy him rests with AS Monaco, but Barcelona have the option to buy him back almost immediately, either to keep him in the squad or to move him on for a higher fee.

For the past few seasons, Fati had been playing football without a smile on his face. He looked a pale shadow of his former, confident self, and there seemed to be no solution.

However, Monaco have profiled him perfectly and managed to bring the best out of him. It’s still early days, but it offers plenty of promise for the future.

How he performs between now and the end of the season will go a long way towards dictating what the future holds for Fati. Let’s wait and see how things play out.
