FC Barcelona will be looking to add more depth to their squad during the summer transfer window. It is no secret that the club has had its fair share of financial issues in recent years, but things are now much better. For that reason, reinforcements are much more plausible for Barcelona now.

At the same time, however, the Catalan giants cannot afford to be negligent. For them, this transfer window is an opportunity to strengthen the team wherever it is necessary instead of spending haphazardly and falling into the same traps that they fell into in previous years.

Barcelona does have a signing in mind

One position which the club seems to be giving a lot of priority to right now is the goalkeeper position. Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia’s camp is reportedly in advanced negotiations with Barcelona already, and it shows that the Catalan giants are serious about their business right now.

Deco provides further clarity

At the same time, however, Barcelona Director Deco has given some more information regarding the club’s transfer plans right now as quoted by SPORT (h/t Barca Times). From his perspective, the priority is to first renew the contracts that need attention and then look at potentially a handful of signings as well:

“After completing renewals, we will make 2, 3, or 4 signings.”

As it stands right now, both Raphinha and Lamine Yamal have extended their contracts with the club. The 17-year-old Spanish prodigy recently extended his stay at the club until 2031, and it is a positive decision that has gone down well with the club and fans.

Beyond that, the aforementioned case of Joan Garcia is still a prominent transfer operation that Barcelona remains invested in. Apart from that, however, reports have been suggesting that the club is also in the market for a new left-winger to improve their overall synergy as well.

Beyond that, it remains anyone’s guess for now what Deco and Barcelona have in mind. Either way, it is for sure that Hansi Flick has over-performed with his team in his first ever season at the club and he has earned himself the right to be given the signings that he needs for next season.
