One way that the club is potentially looking to improve their squad for next season is through signings. Ideally, the club would look to sign reinforcements across various positions, but the reality for Barcelona is that they will have a limited budget and will have to choose their targets carefully.
However, recent reports have suggested that the Catalan giants are interested in signing a new winger if possible. With various names now being linked to the club, it was almost inevitable that this conversation would be brought up in front of someone like Hansi Flick eventually.
Hansi Flick speaks about a potential new winger
During his recent press conference, the Barcelona coach was asked about the possibility of signing a new winger, potentially one that specializes as a natural left-winger.
To this, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo, the Barcelona coach replied that the team does seem to lack real options in that position and it is something that needs their attention:
“We’ve talked about it. In recent matches we didn’t have many options in that area. It’s something we need to improve.”
Luis Diaz remains linked to Barcelona
By suggesting this, it seems clear enough that Barcelona are indeed studying such a possibility. In terms of potential candidates, however, Liverpool star Luis Diaz has been heavily linked to Barcelona and has even been labelled as the club’s top priority target.
However, when asked about the possibility of signing him or even Marcus Rashford, Hansi Flick refrained from speaking too much since they are players of other clubs at the moment:
“I don’t want to talk about players who aren’t part of my team, but they’re both fantastic players and I like them. We’ll see what happens.”
In recent weeks, however, there have been reports suggesting that the potential signing of Luis Diaz is one that even Flick has given his approval for. Moreover, the Barcelona coach reportedly also has a plan in mind to field a potential new left-winger alongside Raphinha in his team.
