FC Barcelona sought to add attacking firepower this summer and brought in English forward Marcus Rashford from Manchester United on an initial loan deal with an option to buy for around €30m.

Rashford’s career at Old Trafford had been fading in recent years. Ruben Amorim made it clear the English attacker had no future under him, even handing over his No. 10 jersey to summer signing Matheus Cunha.

Now, according to Fichajes, Barcelona are very happy with the way Rashford has started his career in Spain and are leaning towards triggering the option to buy at the end of the season. That said, they want the 27-year-old to continue this form.

Rashford has been Barcelona’s most effective attacker so far this season. Injuries to Lamine Yamal and Raphinha have given the Englishman an opportunity to start games regularly for Hansi Flick, and this has restored his confidence.

The former Manchester United star has chipped in with a goal or an assist in almost every game this season. He has featured on the right, on the left, and even through the middle on occasion, and has looked at home.

Barcelona and Deco are still keen to see whether Rashford fully adapts to the club and Flick’s system. He is determined to prove a point, which is bringing the best out of him, but he must sustain this over a long period.

It remains to be seen how Rashford’s career in Blaugrana colours progresses. The 27-year-old would love to become a permanent signing at the Catalan club, and it will depend entirely on how he performs between now and the end of the season. Let us wait and see how things play out.
