FC Barcelona know that they need the right kind of financial backing to operate with ease in the market. Unfortunately, the reality of their situation means that they still need to generate more revenue somehow. For now, Barcelona remain heavily restricted due to their financial situation.

Barcelona are already quite restricted

Recently, the operation concerning Nico Williams did not come to fruition primarily because of issues created from their limited options. Unable to provide registration guarantees, the Athletic Club star slipped away from their fingers and renewed his contract until 2035.

Keeping that in mind, it becomes vitally important for Barcelona to value any and all income that comes their way. Unfortunately, it seems now that the Catalan club is set to miss out on some important extra income that could have been generated.

Vitor Roque fails to impress at the Club World Cup

According to the information provided by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will miss out on an extra €2 million in transfer revenue as Palmeiras crash out of this year’s edition of the FIFA Club World Cup. That is because Vitor Roque, a former player for the Catalan giants, failed to impress much there.

For context, Barcelona previously gave away 80% of the rights of the Brazilian forward to Palmeiras for €25.5 million and bonuses that could reach up to €5 million. However, one of the three add-on bonus clauses attached can now be completely scratched off.

More details about the bonuses

Out of those bonuses worth around €5 million, €2 million were dependent on the 20-year-old forward impressing at the Club World Cup and being one of the top three players in the competition. Instead, he has failed to impress at all and Palmeiras have been knocked out of the competition by Chelsea.

However, the other two bonuses still remain intact but are extremely ambitious as well. One of those bonuses is worth €2 million and it would only be received by Barcelona if Roque somehow manages a top three finish in the Ballon d’Or. The last remaining bonus, worth €1 million, is dependant on Palmeiras winning an international title during his contract with them.
