FC Barcelona have been working on their financial situation all throughout this summer. In many ways, it has hindered the club’s ability to participate as they would ideally like to in the transfer window. However, Barcelona might just have a few tricks left to show off.
At the moment, the club is doing what it can within its financial limits to acquire new signings. The first arrival this summer was Spanish goalkeeper Joan Garcia, and it then took a while before the arrival of Swedish talent Roony Bardghji could be made official as well.
Now, it seems likely that Barcelona is headed towards making another signing. With reputable sources confirming there to be an agreement to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United on a loan deal, the 27-year-old English winger looks set to be coming to Spain.
Ter Stegen could hold the key for registrations
However, there still remains the issue of registering both players, a recurring problem for Barcelona over the last few seasons. Still, a journalist has recently claimed that a certain club captain seems to hold the key.
According to Santi Ovalle, the possible departure of German goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen could end up leaving Barcelona with enough space to register both Joan Garcia and Marcus Rashford for the upcoming season:
“If he leaves, that frees up €20 million in salary, enough to register both Rashford and Joan García.”
A possible surgery for the Barcelona captain
It is no surprise to hear that Ter Stegen remains one of the club’s highest earners, especially considering Barça’s attempts to offload him. However, things have not looked too promising so far with the 33-year-old German player being adamant about staying at the Catalan club.
Yet, there is still the possibility of Ter Stegen undergoing surgery and potentially being sidelined for a few months. In turn, it is reported that this would allow Barcelona to register players as well, but it remains to be seen what the future holds for the veteran club captain.
