The summer transfer window has well and truly kicked off for all major clubs, including Barcelona. For the Catalan giants, it is a transfer window that they will surely want to make the most of. However, that objective will demand patience and vigilance from Barcelona.
After all, while it is expected that La Blaugrana will certainly pursue some signings, it is likely that they will have a limited budget. Still, if Barcelona can manage to choose the right targets, they might just end up doing well.
One target of theirs, as per recent reports at least, is Liverpool forward Luis Diaz. Currently valued at €85 million by Transfermarkt, the Colombian winger is someone that Barcelona are reportedly quite interested in signing.

Fortunately for the Spanish giants, Liverpool’s recent pursuit of 22-year-old German star Florian Wirtz could potentially make things easier for them. As highlighted by SPORT, given the expensive nature of the transfer that Liverpool is working on, there just might be some beneficial consequences for Barcelona as well.
For starters, any deal for Wirtz is likely to cost Liverpool a lot in terms of the transfer fee that they potentially will pay to Bayer Leverkusen. Secondly, it would be a transfer that could end up straining the salary cap a bit more as well.

Furthermore, even from a sporting perspective it would mean an overcrowding of attacking players. With a lot of attacking talent present, certain players may like the idea of moving to a club that can guarantee them minutes and great opportunities.
At the same time, with his contract expiring in 2027 and the player’s renewal still pending, Luis Diaz’s transfer fee could come down as well considering all these factors. Reportedly valued at €85 million at the moment by the Premier League side itself, that price tag for the 28-year-old forward could go down as time passes.
Fortunately for Barcelona, they are currently in no immediate hurry to buy the player. As long as they play their cards right, there is a possibility that the potential transfer of Florian Wirtz to Liverpool could just open up good possibilities for Barça, especially with Hansi Flick himself hinting that the club could pursue a new winger.
