The primary goal for FC Barcelona in this summer transfer window was to reinforce the squad. For La Blaugrana, giving Hansi Flick the extra tools he needs to develop this team even further was crucial. Fortunately, Barcelona have been able to make some necessary acquisitions.
First came the arrival of Spanish goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who essentially was a market opportunity that the Catalan club did not want to miss out on. Ultimately, they ended up paying his release clause of around €25 million to sign him from RCD Espanyol.
Then came the arrival of Roony Bardghji, who essentially joins as a player for the youth teams and is not exactly a first team regular just yet. However, thanks to his positive showings in preseason training so far, Hansi Flick is reportedly impressed with him.
Barcelona will not sign any more players this summer

Lastly, and arguably the most anticipated arrival, was that of a new left-winger this summer. That honour ultimately went to Marcus Rashford, who officially joins the Catalan club this summer on a loan deal from English Premier League side Manchester United.
However, Joan Laporta was asked in a recent interview with Mundo Deportivo if Barcelona would be signing any more players this summer. To that question, Laporta replied as such, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano:
“In principle, there will be no more new signings this summer.”
Further explaining his statement, the Barcelona president highlighted the fact that the team does have a strong squad now and that Hansi Flick wants to trust the youngsters as well:
“We have a good squad, and the coach wants to strengthen the first team with players from the reserves, so we don’t expect new deals at the moment.”
Focus on the youth instead
In many ways, what Laporta is saying does make sense. Moreover, considering the club’s restricted financial situation, it would perhaps not be a bad idea to save some funds if possible and for the club to not overextend itself this summer.
As for the youngsters that Hansi Flick wants to trust, one would assume that many of them are part of the squad that has travelled to Japan. From players like Toni Fernandez to Pedro ‘Dro’ Fernandez, there are a lot of talents that Flick would love to put to the test.
