As the transfer window continues to move on, FC Barcelona continues to work on their own operations as well. Thus far, the Catalan giants have not yet officially announced any new signings. However, it is understood that Barcelona hopes to remain active in the market.

In that regard, it is already taken for granted that Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia will be joining Barcelona this summer. With the club having already paid his release clause, only La Liga’s verification is left before he can officially be announced.

On another front, however, a lot of reports have started to emerge. This is of course referring to the interesting case of Athletic Club winger Nico Williams, who seems determined to join the Catalan club this summer. After making his agent meet with Deco, things are now looking positive as his signing continues to be discussed.

Barcelona may have changed their mind

However, another important update has now emerged in regards to Williams and Barcelona. As stated by Fernando Polo (h/t Reshad Rahman), this recent initiative and gesture of making his agent meet up with Barcelona has reportedly gone down quite well within the club.

In fact, this gesture has now led to Barcelona regaining actual interest in signing the player and he is now being seriously considered by the club as well. The potential signing of the 22-year-old Athletic Club winger is now gaining strength, and he is now in a much stronger position than before.

Still some things to assess

Understandably, he is still not the only option that La Blaugrana will be assessing. However, unlike before, the Spaniard is now among the top three options alongside Liverpool’s Luis Diaz and Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford. Ultimately, however, the finances and other factors will likely dictate what Barcelona ends up doing.

For now, all three options remain open to be assessed and looked at by Barcelona. While Luis Diaz may have his supporters within the club, Williams also has no shortage of people likely backing his potential signing either.
