This summer transfer window is proving to be a lot more hectic for FC Barcelona than the club would have wanted. For La Blaugrana, it has been troublesome to get certain deals over the line. At the same time, however, Barcelona are focused on doing what they can.

In terms of player signings and registrations, there have been some considerable hindrances so far this summer. However, it would seem like Barcelona are confident about getting certain deals over the line and they are not too worried about them for now.

After all, new avenues and loopholes are there to be found and the club just has to make the best of their situation. One recent development that could help in that regard is the possible surgery that Barcelona captain Marc-Andre Ter Stegen could end up undergoing.

If he goes through with it, there is a likely possibility that his time on the sidelines could enable Barcelona to use 80% of his salary space and use it to register other players. That is because, as per Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona would then be able to rely on La Liga’s long-term injury provision.

Similar to how the club used Ter Stegen’s injury last season to bring in Wojciech Szczesny, they could use it again to register new summer arrival Joan Garcia. However, that is where the club has made a decision already, and that decision is that Garcia would be the goalkeeper to be registered in that scenario and not Szczesny.

Wojciech Szczesny would have to wait a bit longer

Instead, the Polish goalkeeper’s registration following his recent contract renewal will have to wait. For his particular case, Barcelona would look at other financial measures to generate the space they need to register the veteran goalkeeper’s contract at the club.

However, it must be kept in mind that is still a provisional option, and that the percentage in question cannot be used to reduce Barça’s status as a financial overextended club. For now, it would only be a measure that the club uses for Garcia’s pending registration.
